I was approached by a professor of Psychology and her grad class to put together a book of all the studies and statistics they had gathered over the course of the year on a project on violence against women. They wanted it eye catching so that students on campus would want to pick it up and read and hopefully learn something new. Typically when a collections of charts and graphs are shown, they aren’t the most exciting things to read so what we wanted was to make it interesting enough that they would continue to flip through the pages. I explored with type, layout, and color throughout the book and apparently it was well received by the Psychology department at CSULB.
